Five homes were visited and there was a variety of landscaping work was completed. Leaves were raked, roofs/gutters cleaned, perennial beds cut back and some mums planted!
Recipients were senior members of our community and Church who would have otherwise not have been able to do final yard clean up themselves before winter comes. A crew of volunteers from Tommy’s Gift participated but the biggest thrill was the participation from the local youth of our community. We had volunteers children and grandchildren present as well as Assistant Girls Varsity Coach Kim Wensits and her Varsity girls team as well as Plano Head Football Coach Brad Kunz and Members from the boys Varsity Team.
It was a wonderful day of fellowship and community service. The senior recipients showed their gratitude and appreciation for the hard work and effort from the volunteers and for the comfort and joy it brought them knowing that their were people who thought of their needs and selflessly gave of their time for them.
It was also great to see the youth react so positively at doing service for their community and putting others above themselves. It was a great day had by all filled with God moments and inspiration. We look forward to doing it again next year and say thank you to everyone who participated!
